Freeze Drying

Recently, we've added some Freeze Dried Soup to our store and I'm sure you're wondering how freeze drying actually works. It's a long process but, in simple terms, the machine that we use has three basic steps.

  1. The machine freezes the food solid.
  2. A vacuum is created around the food, turning the ice directly to water vapor through a process called sublimation.
  3. The machine runs a final drying cycle on low temperature to remove any extra moisture

Freeze dried food has a shelf life of up to 25 years, it's very light, and you can reconstitute it simply by adding water, making it a perfect food for camping, hiking, or emergency prep. Their are many other benefits which you can find in this blog.
